Weekend Review

Now in reverse-o-vision

Just watched Matt Kenseth win at Dover, so a little victory dance is in order. Jen and I spent the afternoon moving my mom from her house she has rented for the past 14 years to a single bedroom apartment at a seniors only apartment complex. The apartment is very nice for a one bedroom. She has a corner unit with windows on both walls that you can literally stand in. It is a historic building that was recently renovated. My sister and brother-in-law were on scene to help, as well as my crazy uncle Tommy (again, I can only hope I have half the energy that man has when I'm his age) and my aunt Carol. The move, including moving items to a storage area, only took about 4 hours, so that was good.

This morning we woke up around 9:00 after a wonderful night of sleep (so chilly we needed extra blankets) and I fixed us pancakes, scrambled eggs (with fresh chives from the herb garden) and bacon. I fiddled with my new website software a bit and it was off to Toledo to move my mom.

Saturday was largely spent relaxing. The breakfast menu consisted of tortilla wraps with scrambled eggs, bacon, chives and cream cheese. We did manage to get out to Wauseon by 9:30 to start the process of getting our Passports. It was a slow morning at the post office, so that process went pretty quick. I fully intend to use those puppies when they arrive in a few weeks. We headed home afterwards and did a little more home improvement in the bathroom. We put the mirrored doors on the medicine cabinet and the new faucet in place. We also test stained the chair rail and compared it to a painted piece. I think we are going to paint them instead as it provides a little more contrast and definition from the wainscoting. I evaluated a few web CMS programs and decided on Drupal which has all of the features I want, it's written in PHP, and took less them an hour to setup and move my content in to. We had snow crab legs for dinner (while watching Deadliest Catch on the DVR) and played Champions of Norrath: Return to Arms the rest of the evening. Jen apologized to me because her character kept getting killed, but I told her not to worry. The fact that I was able to sit on the couch with my wife and best friend and play PS2 for 2 hours greatly out weighs the few seconds it takes to gate back to a save point...

Friday is a blur at this point...I think we played PS2 some, did some reading and watched TV after what seemed like such a long week even though it was only a four day work week...

Tonight, grilling meat products...
